Athens

June 6-8, 2018

On June 6^th, you will arrive in Athens to begin your European adventure. A highlight of this day will be a visit to Cape Sounion*, home of the Temple of Poseidon. The present Temple is built on the site of the older ruins among cliffs tumbling into the Aegean Sea. Cape Sounion was ideally located for worship of the powerful god of the sea. Begin June 7^th with a guided panoramic city tour* of Athens, including visits to the New Acropolis Museum*, and the National Archaeological Museums*. Your city tour will introduce you to such sights as the Acropolis and the breathtaking Parthenon, (built to honor the goddess Athena), the Royal Palace, Constitution Square, Parliament and Plaka. Perhaps you will see the Evzones, the Greek Royal Guard at the Greek Royal Palace, or view the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Athens, sparkling in the Aegean sun as it has done since the dawn of the Greek history, will be sure to delight and fascinate you with its many monuments to the past. On June 8^th, you will transfer to Piraeus Port to continue your adventure to Santorini!

Santorini, Akrotiri, Mykonos & Athens

June 8-14, 2018

Santorini’s crescent shape is the result of the volcanic eruption of 1450 B.C. Some believe that the island is a candidate for the lost kingdom of Atlantis. Upon arrival to the island on June 8^th, a guided visit to Akrotiri* is planned, including a visit to the Akrotiri site*, one of the most inspiring archaeological sites in the Cyclades. June 9^th you will enjoy a guided cruise* around the island including visits to the volcano and hot springs*. The island’s capital, Thira, overlooks the caldera, and the terraces lined with hotels and restaurants offer a remarkable view of the sunset. Largely pedestrianized, Santorini’s winding cobblestone streets are just wide enough for mules to pass. You will also find many beautiful churches on the island. The 18^th-Century church of Agiou Mina, with its distinctive blue dome and its white bell tower, has become the symbol of Santorini. While here you may optionally enjoy a sunset dinner basking in the ambience and serene beauty of this island (free to those who submit their application and deposit by the deadline). On June 10^th, you will transfer to the Island of Mykonos by high-speed ferry. Mykonos, with its picturesque-harbor nestled at the foot of gently sloping green hills, will dazzle and delight you. Maze-like streets, stark white windmills and dozens of little churches all add to the charm that gave the island its international reputation. Dedicate June 11^th and 12^th to exploring this scenic island at leisure. Whether you choose to wander the boutique-lined streets or soak up the atmosphere along the quayside, you will discover the beauty of this idealistic setting. Upon returning to Athens on June 13^th, you may enjoy last minute sightseeing with your tour leader to bid farewell to such sights as the Acropolis and the breathtaking Parthenon, (built to honor the goddess Athena), or last minute souvenir shopping while enjoying the ambience of the Plaka, the ancient historic neighborhood of Athens. On June 14^th, you will return to the United States with fond memories, amazing experiences and perhaps a souvenir or two from your European adventure.

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $3,985.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the standard non-discounted price is $4,085.00.  If you wish to use a credit card for your initial deposit, you will be allowed to pay the remaining payments by check and still receive the discounted tour price. Trip price is based on twin occupancy and includes round trip airfare from New Orleans, point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe, all breakfasts and 2 dinners. Additionally, *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk as well as city tours in Athens and Akrotiri are included in the tour price (Cape Sounion site, Acropolis Site, New Acropolis Museum, National Archeological Museum, Ancient Thira excavations tour and site, Prehistoric Museum of Santorini and a Full Day Volcano Cruise (pending availability). In the unlikely event that EA Tours cancels the tour and is unable to operate a substitute itinerary, the tour cost including the initial deposit is fully refundable. Additional items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $530.00. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges security surcharges, and associated fees. If applicable, unforeseen tax increases will be billed on a supplemental invoice. A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour. A $500.00 non-refundable initial deposit is required to reserve your space on this tour. All tour participants must submit an online application.
