 On June 15th you will depart Washington to begin your European adventure, landing in the vibrant capital city of Madrid on the 16th and discovering the artistic treasures of this city. Fantastic excursions, cultural encounters with a focus on the Muslim influence in Spain, preserved historical sites, delicious foods and exotic shopping make this trip exciting and rewarding. Bring these memories home with you on the 24th.

Madrid

June 16th – June 18th

On June 16th Madrid awaits you, the capital and largest city in Spain. Upon arrival you will enjoy a guided tour of the city* including the Plaza Mayor, Puerto del Sol, and ending with a visit to the Prado Museum* to view world-famous art pieces. travel to your hotel. After a brief rest you will as time permits. June 17th is dedicated to discovering area points of interest with your tour leader, which will focus on an overview of monuments, parks, gardens, museums, and picturesque streets and plazas. You may wish to optionally visit the Royal Palace (free to those who submit their application and deposit by the deadline). One evening you may wish to shop at Plaza Mayor to look for suede and leather bargains and sample “tapas” before departing to Cordoba the next morning.

Toledo & Cordoba

June 18th – June 19th

This morning, June 18th, you depart Madrid for Cordoba with a visit to Toledo along the way. Spanish history comes alive today with your included excursion to Toledo. Step back in time with a guided tour* including visits to El Transito Synagogue, the Cathedral, and the Church of Santo Tome*. Have your camera ready for your arrival in picturesque Córdoba, followed by dinner and overnight. Begin June 19th with a guided tour of the city with local guide of Córdoba with its cobblestoned streets and Cathedral. An entrance to the Mosque* is included in your morning tour. This afternoon you will transfer to the lovely Sevilla.

Sevilla

June 19th –June 21st

On June 19th you will continue your adventure to Seville, site of the Expo ’92, which provides the most complete picture of the spirit of Spain as a whole because of its wealth of art, architecture, museums, and shopping. The highlight of this evening will be a Flamenco Show*. On June 20th some of the many sites awaiting you on your guided tour* of the city may include the Almond Tower with a Christian Crown, Torre de Oro, Santa Cruz-Jewish Quarter, and the Moorish District, the famed Tower of Gold, the Cathedral, and the Royal Palace. The afternoon is dedicated to leisure, last minute shopping and exploring the local ambience of Sevilla.

Ronda & Granada

June 21st – June 23rd

On June 21st depart Sevilla and enjoy the mountainous views as your coach takes you to Ronda*, famous for its bullring and the breathtaking gorge. Ronda city sightseeing tour* with local guide is included upon arrival. Continue your journey with a transfer to Granada which was a flourishing city under the Moors, then the Catholic crown and the baroque period. Your guided city tour* on June 22nd includes a tour the Alhambra Complex*, a Moorish citadel and palace as well as the Generalife Gardens and Cathedral*. Tomorrow your journey continues to Malaga.

Malaga

June 23rd – June 24th

Bid farewell to Granada on June 23rd as you transfer to Malaga. Enjoy the afternoon visiting the beaches or enjoying the ambience of this town with last minute sightseeing or shopping for souvenirs. Enjoy a farewell dinner* on your last night in Spain. You will return to your own beautiful and historical city on June 24th taking with you fabulous memories of this wonderful adventure.
