A Celebration of Masons and Veterans

Washington, D.C.

December 7 – December 9, 2015

Tuesday, December 7th: You will depart today from your chosen departure city (Jacksonville, Orlando or Tampa) and fly to Washington D.C. where you will immediately begin your explorations of our nation’s capitol…  Washington, D.C. waits to greet you with all of its history. Your first stop is planned at the House of the Temple*. Also known as the headquarters of the Scottish Rite of Freemasons; it is guarded by two Sphinx inside vast halls with ancient motifs and Masonic symbols — the double-headed eagle, the famous square-and-compass with the letter G (for God and Geometry). The remainder of your afternoon takes you to Arlington National Cemetery*, resting place for so many American heroes. Afterward you will visit the Marine Corps Memorial* (Iwo Jima statue), the Air Force Memorial*, and the Pentagon Memorial*, created because of September 11, 2001.

Wednesday, December 8th: Your day will begin with a visit to the Washington Monument* where you will learn about its Masonic symbolism. Afterward, you will drive by the National Museum of Women in the Arts*, once home to the Grand Lodge of Washington, D.C. Next, you will visit additional memorials dedicated to our nation’s heroes; the National World War II Memorial*, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial* and the Korean War Memorial*. Following dinner, we will continue our memorials tour as we enjoy the Lincoln Memorial* and the Jefferson Memorial* at night.

Thursday, December 9th: The first stop of your final morning will take you outside The White House for a memorable photo opportunity. From the White House, you continue on to the Capitol Hill area which includes a tour of the Capitol Building* and hopefully a chance to meet with a member from our Florida Legislative Delegation. Following a lunch break, you will enjoy a tour of the Eastern Star Headquarters* and a visit to the George Washington Masonic National Memorial*. Your final highlight, prior to boarding your flight home, will take you to Mount Vernon*, George Washington’s estate / home and final resting place. From Mt. Vernon, your transfer to the airport to connect with your return flight home, returning with memories to last a lifetime.
