Rome

June 16th – June 20th

Upon your arrival in Rome on June 16th you  will  visit Ostia Antica*, Rome’s ancient Seaport en-route you to your hotel via your private coach. As the “Eternal City” and capital of Italy, Rome is a magnificent city built on seven hills and is literally layered with history, one civilization built on top of another. This evening enjoy local sightseeing with your tour leader. June 17th begins with a guided city tour* to discover sites of twentieth century Rome including a breathtaking mixture of ruins and monuments, fantastic fountains, beautiful piazzas and innumerable museums including visits to such sights as the Colosseum & Forum*. Later this afternoon you may choose to visit the Capitoline Museum, (free to those who submit their deposit by the deadline). The morning of June 18th you will enjoy a guided visit to the Vatican Museums*, including St. Peter’s Basilica and Sistine Chapel. This afternoon is reserved for sightseeing with your tour leader including visits to area points of interest such as Circus Maximus, Piazza Navona and much more. A Fresco Tile Workshop* will round out your day’s activities (pending availability). June 19th will begin with a visit to the Borghese Gallery*.  Afterwards, dedicate the afternoon to exploring Rome with your tour leader to include such sights as the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain. Rome abounds with numerous ancient churches, museums and architecture for you to discover and explore. After dinner on your own you may wish to indulge your sweet tooth with one of the many delights found in a Roman Gelato Shop. Tomorrow morning you will travel to Florence via train to spend a wonderful day in the birthplace of the Renaissance.

Florence

 June 20th

Florence will thrill you with its amazing treasures. When you arrive in Florence on June 20th you will take a guided walking tour* of this historic city.  Important highlights on your tour include such sites as Michelangelo’s “David” located within the walls of the renowned Academia*, Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo and the eight-sided Baptistery. Enjoy lunch on your own in Florence’s beautiful Renaissance atmosphere, shopping in the straw market and open-air market or strolling across the Ponte-Vecchio to see the gold and silver shops before returning to Rome by train this evening.

Rome & Assisi

June 20th – June 24th

The evening is yours to savor on your own when you arrive back in Rome. June 21st begins with a visit to the Catacombs*, on the Via Appia Antica.  An afternoon of sightseeing with your tour leader to more area points of interest will complete your day. Depart Rome once again on June 22nd for Assisi* where you will enjoy a guided tour* including a visit to the famous San Francesco Basilica*. This afternoon you will explore this beautiful city with your tour leader before returning to Rome this evening. On your last day in Rome, June 23rd, ample time is reserved for last minute sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs.  You may optionally wish to visit such renowned places as San Pietro in Vincoli, Castle Sant Angelo, the Temple of Minerva, or many other marvelous Roman sights. On June 24th you will bid farewell to the charm of Italy and return home, taking with you fond memories of your incredible journey.

 

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $4,690.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the standard non-discounted price is $4,790.00.  Tour participation is based on triple occupancy and includes roundtrip airfare from Redmond, point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe, and all breakfasts.  *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk are included in the tour price (Colosseum and Forum, Vatican Museums, Fresco Tile Workshop, Borghese Gallery, Academia, Catacombs ,Basilica in Assisi, Ostia Antica and city tours in Rome, Florence and Assisi) and may be subject to availability.
