Sorrento & Florence

June 16 – 20, 2023

On June 16 you arrive in Rome and transfer to Sorrento, a seaside town along the most visited route in Campania that offers spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast. Dinner* is included tonight. June 17 takes you on an excursion to the Isle of Capri* where you will see coastal villages, marine caves, cliff faces that drop dramatically into the sea, and the Blue Grotto (free to those who submit their applications and deposit by the deadline).  The beauty of Capri surrounds you as you stroll through the center of Capri with its boutiques, studios, and churches.  June 18, you will bid farewell to Sorrento as you as you travel to Florence by train.  As birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence will thrill you with its treasures. Dinner* is included tonight. During a walking tour of the city* on June 19, you will see many of the important sights of this historic town including Michelangelo’s “David” at the Accademia*, Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, and the eight-sided Baptistry. After lunch, a self-guided visit is planned to the Uffizi Gallery*, Italy’s greatest art gallery. Other optional highlights may include visiting the Boboli Gardens, shopping in the straw market and open-air market, visiting a leather factory and strolling across the Ponte-Vecchio to see the gold and silver shops.

 

Rome

June 20 – 23, 2023

On June 20, you will say goodbye to Florence as you travel to Rome. Along the way, you will have stops in the beautiful cities of Siena and Assisi. Spend the morning exploring the medieval city of Siena with its historic brick buildings and beautiful cathedrals. Siena is also home to the world’s oldest bank, the Monte dei Paschi bank, which opened in 1472! Another historic site within this picturesque city is the University of Siena. It was founded in 1240, making it one of the oldest universities in continuous operation in the world! With so much history and culture, it’s not hard to see why this small city center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, continue to Assisi, a city known for its magnificent medieval architecture and for being the birthplace of Saint Francis. Saint Francis, one of the most important religious figures in history, was the founder of the Franciscan Religious Order and is the Patron Saint of Italy. Upon your evening arrival in Rome, enjoy dinner* before checking into your hotel. Begin June 21at the Colosseum and Forum* and the St. Clement Basilica*. This afternoon, visit the Vatican Museum* and St. Peter’s Basilica*. A walking tour* on June 22 will have you exploring area points of interest such as the Spanish Steps, the Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Piazza Navona and much more. You will have the afternoon free for personal sightseeing and shopping followed by your farewell dinner*.  On June 23 return home with souvenirs, photos, and memories of your Italian adventure!

**The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $4,295.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the standard non-discounted price is $4,395.00.  If you wish to use a credit card for your initial deposit, you will be allowed to pay the remaining payments by check and still receive the discounted tour price. Trip price is based on triple occupancy and includes round trip airfare from Washington, DC, point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe, all breakfasts and 3 dinners.  Additionally, *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk as well as city tours in Florence and Rome are included in the tour price (Sightseeing as indicated on the itinerary including visits and entrance fees to the Accademia, Uffizi Gallery, Colosseum & Forum, St. Clement Basilica, Vatican Museums, St. Peter’s Basilica, and excursions to Capri, Assisi, Siena.) In the unlikely event that EA Tours cancels the tour and is unable to operate a substitute itinerary, the tour cost including the initial deposit is fully refundable. Additional items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $635.00 per person.  A guaranteed twin room may be available for a supplemental charge of $360.00 per person. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges, security surcharges, and associated fees. If applicable, unforeseen tax increases will be billed on a supplemental invoice. A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour. A $500.00 non-refundable (for any reason) initial deposit is required to reserve your space on this tour. All tour participants must submit an online application.
