Pompeii & Sorrento

June 4 – 8, 2022

On June 4^th arrive in Rome and board a coach to town of Pompeii with a visit to the Naples Archaeological Museum* along the way. The next day, June 5^th is dedicated to exploring Pompeii*. Here, the Roman Empire speaks directly to you through glimpses of ancient everyday life and real people frozen in time since the city’s burial by Mt. Vesuvius in A.D. 79. In the afternoon, view the remains of the ancient sites of Herculaneum* and Stabiae, which were also caught in the eruption of Vesuvius.  On June 6^th bid farewell to Pompeii as you continue your journey to Sorrento, with a visit to Paestum* en route. Sorrento, a seaside town along the most visited route in Campania, offers spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast. On June 7^th take an excursion to Capri* where you will see coastal villages, marine caves, cliff faces that drop dramatically into the sea, and La Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto) – free to those who submit their applications and deposit by the deadline – visit the remains of Tiberius’ Villa Jovis, and stroll through the center of Capri with its boutiques, studios, and churches. On June 8^th bid farewell to the Amalfi coast and head to Rome, with visits to Mt. Vesuvius, * Terracina*, and Sperlonga* along the way!

Rome

June 8 – 14, 2022

Upon your arrival in Rome on June 8^th enjoy evening sightseeing with your tour leader after checking into your Rome hotel. Our planned itinerary includes a morning visit on June 9^th to Capitoline Hill and Museum. This afternoon visits to Ara Pacis Augustae*, Palazzo Altemps*, the Pantheon, and the Piazza Navona. On June 10^th visit the Vatican Museum*, St. Peter’s Basilica*, and Sistine Chapel*.  Spend the afternoon at Villa Giulia, Palatine Hill, Circus Maximus and evening in Trastevere.  Begin June 11^th at the Colosseum and Forum*, San Clemente*, and Via Condotti to the Spanish steps. Optional trip to Ostia Antica is a possibility.  On the morning of June 12^th  begin with Mass at the Marist House and  St Peter’s Square with hopes to be blessed by the Pope.  Your afternoon will take you to the Appian Way Walk, to the Catacombs*, Quo Vadis Church, and the Pyramid of Cestius*.  The morning of June 13^th is devoted to visiting Tivoli* and Hadrian’s Villa*.  Afternoon sights include Baths of Diocletian, Palazzo Massimo, churches with masterpieces by Bernini and Michelangelo.. On June 14^th return home with souvenirs, photos, and memories of your Italian adventure!

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The estimated tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $4895.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the estimated standard non-discounted price is $4995.00.  If you wish to use a credit card for your initial deposit, you will be allowed to pay the remaining payments by check and still receive the discounted tour price. Trip price is based on triple occupancy and includes round trip airfare from Atlanta, point-to-point transportation between cities while in Italy, train, all breakfasts and 7 evening meals (2 in Pompeii, 2 in Sorrento and 3 in Rome).  Additionally, *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk are included in the tour price (Naples Archaeological Museum, Pompeii, Oplontis, Herculaneum, Paestum, Capri excursion, Mt. Vesuvius, Terracina, Sperlonga, San Clemente, Ara Pacis Augustae, guided Vatican Museums, Palazzo Altemps, Colosseum & Forum, excursion to Tivoli with Hadrian’s Villa, Catacombs, Quo Vadis Church, Ardeatine Caves and the Pyramid of Caius Cestius). Additional items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $685.00.  A guaranteed twin room may be available for a supplemental charge of $400.00 per person. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges, security surcharges, and associated fees. If applicable, unforeseen tax increases will be billed on a supplemental invoice. A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour.

A $500.00 non-refundable (for any reason) application fee / deposit is required to reserve your space on this tour. All tour participants must submit an online application.  Please go to “Student/Traveler Sign Up” on the home page at www.EAtours.com.  Your tour number is 222143 and must be entered on your inline application.   Very specific conditions relating to Covid 19 apply and are listed in the Tour Conditions of the online Participation Agreement and Application at eatours.com.  PLEASE NOTE:   At the time of the printing of this brochure, the Italian government mandates that, in order to gain entry into museums, shops/stores, historic sites, restaurants, etc., proof of full vaccination be shown.   As a result of this governmental regulation, in order to participate on this tour, all tour participants are required to be fully vaccinated.  In addition, a negative COVID 19 test may be required to be shown within 72 hours of departure for the USA.   If the COVID 19 test requirement is still in effect before returning to the USA, the cost of the test is at additional cost and is to be paid directly to the testing location by the tour participant.   EA Tours expects to assist with making arrangments for the test but is not responsible for the payment.   Currently, the cost for COVID 19 test is approximately $25.00 per person and is a rapid antigen test.

A second payment of $1000.00, for which you will receive an invoice, will be due no later than 30 days from the date that EA Tours receives your initial payment and online application.   Final payments are due no later than ninety (90) days before departure.

Updated tour details (hotels, day by day itinerary, flights, etc.) are scheduled to be released approximately four weeks prior to departure.  Please note:  This is not an officially school sponsored program.
