September 6 – 8, 2021
On September 6th, you will arrive in Naples and transfer immediately to Sorrento with a visit to Pompeii along the way. Sorrento, a well-developed holiday resort, is along the most visited route in Campania and offers spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast. Spend this evening exploring area points of interest with your tour leader, finalizing the day with dinner. September 7th, you will enjoy your day on the famous nearby Isle of Capri where you may optionally visit the Blue Grotto or the ruins of the Villa of Tiberius. September 8th, a special excursion is planned to the Amalfi coast, including Amalfi the oldest and one of the most popular resort towns on the Amalfi Coast and home to a lovely 10th–century Duomo, featuring a rich colored façade. Continuing this afternoon to Ravello home to iconic cliffside gardens.
September 9-11, 2021
September 9, you will say goodbye to Sorrento as you continue your adventure to Rome, with a stop in Tivoli to visit Hadrian’s Villa* along the way. Upon your arrival in Rome, you will enjoy evening sightseeing and dinner with your tour leader after checking into your Rome hotel. Begin September 10th with a guided tour of the Vatican Museums* including St. Peter’s Basilica* and the Sistine Chapel*. Dedicate this afternoon exploring area points of interest with your tour leader such as the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and much more. On September 11th, you will enjoy a guided city tour* including a visit to the Colosseum and Forum*. Later this afternoon you may optionally wish to visit such sights as San Pietro in Vincoli, Castle Sant Angelo, or the temple of Minerva, among many others.
September 12-15, 2021
On September 12th you will bid farewell to Rome as you travel to Florence. As birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence will thrill you with its treasures. During an afternoon guided city tour*, you will see many of the important sights of this historic town including Michelangelo’s “David” at the Academia*, Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, and the eight-sided Baptistry. September 13th local sightseeing is planned with your tour leader to area points of interest. Highlights may include shopping in the straw market and open-air market, visiting a leather factory and strolling across the Ponte-Vecchio to see the gold and silver shops. On September 14th, a visit is planned to the Uffizi Gallery*, Italy’s greatest art gallery before you travel to Rome. Tonight, your time in Italy will culminate with a farewell dinner*. On September 15th you return home with souvenirs, memories, and perhaps a photo or two in tow marking the end of your European adventure.
