WASHINGTON, D.C.

 

April 14, 2019

This morning, you will depart New Orleans for your flight to Washington, DC. Upon arrival you will be met by your private motor coach to begin your exciting, patriotic adventure. You will transfer to your hotel for check in, then continue by metro for a scheduled visit to the Capitol Building*. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met at the Capitol for over 200 years. You will have time to appreciate the stunning architecture of the Capitol as well as the spirit of the nation and government it represents. Enjoy lunch* at the Capitol, followed by a guided tour*. You will then view the Library of Congress*, followed by a visit to the Supreme Court*, which is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution. Dinner* tonight will be at the Hard Rock Café.

 

April 15, 2019

Following breakfast in your hotel, you will depart for the Bureau of Engraving and Printing*, which produces the United States currency notes, operates as the nation’s central bank, and serves to ensure that adequate amounts of currency and coin are in circulation. The afternoon will be spent exploring the Smithsonian Museums*. You will not want to miss the Smithsonian Museum of Air & Space*. Some of the exhibits you will find at the Air & Space Museum include the Wright 1903 Flyer and the Apollo 11 command module, Columbia. After dinner*, there will be time for leisure at the hotel.

 

April 16, 2019

After breakfast, you are scheduled to visit Ford’s Theatre and Lincoln Center*, which will showcase our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, assassination and legacy.  Afterwards, take time to walk the National Mall. This 146-acre park in the middle of the nation’s capital is home to numerous monuments, memorials, sculptures, statues, and attractions honoring the legacy and history of the United States. This will be followed by a visit to the Smithsonian American History Museum*, which offers exhibits such as the Star Spangled Banner and Julia Child’s kitchen. Dinner* tonight is included with bowling* at one of DC’s favorite bowling venues.

 

April 17, 2019

This morning, you will spend the day as a volunteer for your DC Volunteer Project*. While there, lunch* will be provided as a token of appreciation for your service. For your final afternoon in Washington, there will be time at leisure and last minute souvenir shopping.

 

April 18, 2019

Begin your last day with a tour of Mount Vernon*, George Washington’s estate and final resting place. The guides will direct you through Washington’s home, after which you will have the chance to view his tomb and the many buildings which helped to run this large estate.  There you will also visit the Ford Orientation & Donald W. Reynolds Museum & Education Center*. From here you will depart for the airport and your flight home, taking along your memories and a deeper pride and appreciation for American history.

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price of $1,885.00 is based on double occupancy and includes roundtrip airline transportation (subject to confirmation) from New Orleans, hotel accommodations, 4 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners, sightseeing, metro card, entrance fees if required and motor-coach transportation, where applicable. Sightseeing visits INCLUDE guide and entrance fees (if applicable) to the US Capitol Tour, Library of Congress, Supreme Court, Smithsonian Museums, Ford’s Theatre, bowling, volunteer project, and Mount Vernon. Please note that all above-mentioned scheduled activities are subject to change or cancellation due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e. availability, weather, traffic, etc.) In the unlikely event that EA Tours cancels the tour and is unable to operate a substitute itinerary, the tour cost including the initial deposit is fully refundable. Additional items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability and are not included in the tour price. A guaranteed single may be available, for a supplemental charge, upon request. Included are the estimated applicable governmental airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges, security surcharges, and associated fees. The applicable tour conditions are listed on the online application. There is a $300.00 non-refundable deposit due by September 26th to be eligible for the trip. Additional payments are due as follows: October 12th – $300.00, November 12th – $300.00, December 12th – $300.00, and January 12th – $300.00.
