The D-Day Invasion London and France

Saturday, June 1               Today you depart the United States on your connecting overnight flight to London.  Naturally, meals will be served, and optional in-flight entertainment offered.  Please refer to your flight schedule for pertinent details.

 

Sunday, June 2                  Upon arrival in London, you will be met and transferred to your hotel with a guided panoramic tour en-route.  In the afternoon you will visit the Tower of London to enjoy a Beefeater tour and see the amazing Crown Jewels.

 

Monday, June 3                The British Museum, Imperial War Museum and the “Royal Air Force Museum are all free as well as many other London museums that you may want to visit this day.  In the afternoon you may want to visit Hampton Court Palace, once home to Henry VIII.  Trains leave every half hour from London Waterloo station.

 

Tuesday, June 4                Depart hotel at 8:30 AM with your luggage to spend the day at Duxford where you will visit the Air Museum and enjoy the Daks Over Duxford events.  At 4:30 PM you will continue to your Portsmouth hotel.

 

Wednesday, June 5         At 8:15 AM you depart by Brittany Ferry for Normandy.  Upon arrival at Ouistreham Port, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

 

Thursday, June 6               At 9:00 AM you will be picked up and taken to Caen where you will visit the Caen Chateau and Abbey des Hommes as well as time to explore other points of interest in the city.

 

Friday, June 7                     7:00 AM is the departure time for your full day Caen Memorial and D-Day Beach Tour.  You will drive from your hotel to the Caen train station where you will meet your guides and proceed with their transportation to the memorial.  Lunch is included at the memorial before departing on your tour.  Following the tour you will be dropped at the train station where your transportation back to the hotel will be waiting.  You are scheduled to depart the station at 7:00 PM.

 

Saturday, June 8               You depart your hotel at 9:30 AM for transfer to Lisieux Train Station.  Your train to Paris is scheduled to depart at 10:34 AM.  Upon arrival at St. Lazare Station you will take taxies to your hotel.  At 2:00 PM your guide will meet you in the lobby and begin your guided walking tour.  Some points on interest that you will see include Rue Cler, Ecole Militaire, Invalides, inside Rodin’s Garden where you will see the famous statue of “The Thinker”, Tuileries Garden and Notre Dame (outside only – of course).  Tonight you will ascend the Eiffel Tower.

 

Sunday, June 9                  This is a free day in Paris.  Some places that you may want to visit could include Montmartre, the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, Versailles (easy to reach on the RER) or a boat ride on the Seine.

 

Monday, June 10              At 7:15 AM you depart your hotel by private bus for transfer to CDG Airport where you board your flight back to the U.S. taking with you wonderful memories of your D-Day adventure.
