Center of the glorious British Empire for numerous centuries, London has much to offer to visitors in the way of entertainment and adventure. Upon arrival on June 10th, a guided World War II themed city tour* is planned. On June 11th, visits are planned to The Imperial War Museum* and the Cabinet War Rooms*. This evening, you may optionally enjoy a themed walking tour. Take the morning of June 12th to visit the British Museum* or the Victoria and Albert Museum. From there, spend the afternoon taking in the splendors of London such as the Tower of London, Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square, shopping at Harrods or visiting one of the many exciting London sites with your tour leader. This evening enjoy a theatre performance* before you return to your hotel. The morning of June 13th, you will travel to Caen.
Caen & Paris
June 13 – 17, 2019
Upon your arrival to Caen on June 13th, you will transfer to your hotel with a stop at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial* along the way. The cemetery is located at Omaha Beach, which was the launching point of the U.S. invasion of Normandy. On June 14th, a guided tour* is planned of the D-Day Beaches* and the Caen Memorial*, a museum and war memorial commemorating World War II and the Battle for Caen. Depart Caen on June 15th for Paris, one of the most beautiful cities in the world! Enjoy a guided panoramic city tour* on arrival, where you will see famous landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame* and the Louvre*, the world’s largest art museum, housing such legends as the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory and the Mona Lisa. On June 16th, you will have the opportunity to see Sacré-Cœur, the artists of Montmartre at Place du Tertre, or simply enjoy the ambience of the Parisian Boulevards. This evening, you will see the “City of Light” from atop the Eiffel Tower (free to those who submit their application and deposit by the deadline). On June 17th, you will say goodbye to Paris as you travel to Munich.
Munich & Berlin
June 17 – 21, 2019
Once you arrive in Munich on June 17th, you will enjoy a city tour* en route to your hotel. This evening, you will enjoy dinner at the famous Hofbräuhaus*! On June 18th, an excursion* is planned to Dachau*, site of the first World War II Concentration Camp, which preserves the memory of the camp and those that suffered there. This afternoon you will also visit Hitler’s Eagles Nest*, the Third Reich-era building erected atop the summit of the Kehlstein that was used exclusively by members of the Nazi Party for government and social meetings. The morning of June 19th, you will travel to Berlin. Upon your arrival to Berlin, you will have a guided city tour* visiting such sites as the Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie Museum*, and Kurfürstendamm, one of the most famous shopping avenues in Berlin. A visit to the Reichstag Building*, the seat of the German parliament, is scheduled on June 20th, pending availability. Afterwards, there will be a Third Reich walking tour*, followed by a tour “Topography of Terror” *, where you will learn how the personnel of the Nazi planned, organized, and implemented the persecution of millions throughout Europe. This afternoon, you may optionally participate in a World War II walking tour. June 21st, you will bid farewell to Berlin as you travel home with souvenirs, memories, and perhaps a photo or two in tow marking the end of your European adventure.
