Saturday, May 12

This morning you will depart Memphis for your flight to Washington, DC. Upon arrival, you will be met by your tour leader and private motor coach to begin your exciting patriotic adventure. Your first visit will be to the Holocaust Museum*, both a touching and vivid reminder of those who were persecuted and a supplication against such inhumanity. After dinner will be a guided tour of some of the many memorials dedicated to the pride and sacrifice of the American people, such as the Jefferson, FDR and MLK Memorials*. You will return to your hotel following the evening tour.

 

Sunday, May 13

After breakfast at the hotel, a visit to the Marine Corps Memorial is planned. From there, you will journey to the Smithsonian Museums*, which includes the Natural History, American History and National Museum of the American Indian to name a few. There are more than 137 million objects, works of art and specimens at the Smithsonian Museums and Galleries, so there is something for everyone. There will be plenty of time to explore the other Smithsonian Museums of your group’s choice. During this time, you will be able to visit the National Archives*, where you will view some of the most important documents in our nation’s history including The Declaration of Independence. Following the Smithsonian visits, you are scheduled to visit Ford’s Theatre, Petersen House and Lincoln Center*, which will showcase our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, assassination and legacy. After dinner you will enjoy an illumination tour of the Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean and WWII Memorials* before returning to your hotel.

 

Monday, May 14

This morning begins with a visit to the Supreme Court* and the Library of Congress. A tour of one of the seats of power in our nation, the US Capitol Building*, is planned after lunch. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met at the Capitol for over 200 years. You will have time to appreciate the stunning architecture of the Capitol as well as the spirit of the nation and government it represents. This will be the perfect opportunity for a group photo on Capitol Hill!  This afternoon you will visit the Smithsonian Museum of Air & Space*. Some of the exhibits you will find at the Air & Space Museum include: Wright 1903 Flyer and the Apollo 11 Command Module, “Columbia”. From there, you will visit the new Sept. 11th Memorial* at the Pentagon, followed by dinner at Pentagon City. After dinner, you will have some time for shopping before you return to your hotel for the evening.

 

Tuesday, May 15

Today, you will enjoy one of the highlights of your patriotic adventure, a visit to Mount Vernon*, George Washington’s estate and resting place. Your guide will direct you through Washington’s home, tomb and the many buildings which helped to run this large estate. There you will also visit the Ford Orientation & Donald W. Reynolds Museum & Education Center*. Following lunch, the afternoon will be spent visiting Arlington National Cemetery*, resting place for so many American heroes.  Here, witness Kennedy’s Eternal Flame and the solemn Changing of the Guards Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Your tour leader will direct you to the memorials dedicated to the Space Shuttles Columbia and Challenger following the ceremony.  Afterwards, you will depart for the airport and your flight home, along with your memories and a deeper pride and appreciation for American history.

 

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: * The tour price of $1,498.00 per person is based on quadruple occupancy and includes round trip airfare from Memphis, point-to point transportation while in Washington, D.C., 3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, and 4 dinners.  Additionally, *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk as well as city tours in bold are included in the tour price (Guided Memorial Tours, Arlington National Cemetery and Tram, Smithsonian Museums, Holocaust Museum, Ford’s Theatre and Petersen House, Mount Vernon, National Archives, Capitol Tour, Supreme Court Building & Sept. 11th Memorial at the Pentagon)(pending availability). In the unlikely event that EA Tours cancels the tour and is unable to operate a substitute itinerary, the tour cost including the initial deposit is fully refundable.  Additional items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability and are not included in the tour price. Double and triple rooms may be available upon request and are subject to supplemental fees. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges, security surcharges, and associated fees.
