Wednesday, November 15

Upon arrival to Washington, D.C., you will begin your exciting patriotic adventure with a visit to Arlington National Cemetery*, resting place for so many American heroes.  Here, witness Kennedy’s Eternal Flame and the solemn Changing of the Guards Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You will also visit the memorials dedicated to the Space Shuttles Columbia and Challenger following the ceremony. You will then partake in a humbling experience at the Holocaust Museum*, both a touching and vivid reminder of those who were persecuted and a supplication against such inhumanity. After dinner, you will return to your hotel for the night.

Thursday, November 16

This morning will begin with a tour of the Pentagon*, headquarters to the United States Department of Defense. You will then have time to explore the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum*, with exhibits that include: the Wright 1903 Flyer and the Apollo 11 Command Module, “Columbia”. Following lunch, you will visit one of the highlights of your patriotic journey, the National Archives*, where you will view some of the most important documents in our nation’s history, including The Declaration of Independence. Next is a visit to the Newseum*, where you can witness today’s front page news from all over the World, visit the 4-D theatre, and a number of exhibits including the 9/11 exhibit. Dinner will precede a visit to some of the many memorials dedicated to the pride and sacrifice of the American people, such as the Jefferson, FDR and MLK Memorials*, before returning to your hotel.

Friday, November 17

After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a White House photo opportunity. If time is available, you may also choose to explore the Library of Congress. A guided tour of one of the seats of power in our nation, the Capitol Building*, is next. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met at the Capitol for over 200 years. You will have time to appreciate the stunning architecture of the Capitol as well as the spirit of the nation and government it represents. A tour of the Supreme Court* is also planned today. It is the final judge in all cases involving laws of Congress, and the highest law of all — the Constitution. A visit to Ford’s Theatre* will showcase our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, assassination and legacy. Dinner will be across the street from Ford’s Theatre. You will enjoy the evening on your own before returning to your hotel.

Saturday, November 18

Today, you will visit the Marine Corps, Lincoln, Vietnam, and Korean Memorials* followed by the WWII Memorial*, a monument to the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the American people. You will not want to miss the Smithsonian Natural History Museum*. Some of the popular exhibits to be seen include: Dinosaurs, FossiLab and The Hope Diamond. After lunch, you will visit the Smithsonian American History Museum* which offers exhibits such as the Star Spangled Banner and Julia Child’s kitchen.
