The Wonders of Costa Rica

San Jose, Arenal Volcano National Park

March 10-13, 2018

On arrival to San Jose on March 10^th, you will be met by your personal coach and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Afterwards, you will enjoy a guided excursion to a Coffee Plantation*.  The tour takes place at the Doka Estate where you can learn about the production, the harvesting, the processing plant and the roasting of the grain. Following the tour, you will return to San Jose for dinner this evening. On March 11^th, you will continue your adventure as you depart San Jose for La Fortuna, home to the Arenal Volcano, the most iconic volcano in Costa Rica.  After checking into your hotel, you will enjoy an afternoon tour to a chocolate farm*.  It’s hard to imagine that something as delicious as chocolate could come from a tree but it’s true!  On March 12^th you will enjoy a highlight of your tour with a one day pass to the Arenal Volcano National Park and Baldi Hot Springs*.  Organize your day to enjoy a hike to view the cone of the volcano before taking advantage of the 25 different thermal water pools surrounded by rich local vegetation, singing birds, jacuzzies, the largest sauna of the country and extreme water slides.

 

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve & Carara National Park

March 13-18, 2018

You will depart for Monteverde on March 13^th. Monteverde is one of the top ecotourism destinations the world over, as home to the most spectacular wildlife sanctuary and nature reserve in the world. It is home to some of the most endangered species on the planet.  This afternoon you will enjoy an El Trapiche Tour*.  In the span of the walk around the farm, we explain the process involved in sugarcane cultivation, natural history and the opportunity to taste the sugar cane and its derivatives.  On March 14^th a visit is planned to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve*!  While ascending to the tree tops, you will have the opportunity to explore all levels of the cloud forest. After completing the hanging walkways, the guides will prepare you for the zip line course. The total tour has 12 cables and 16 platforms which will take you to the “Tarzan Swing”, one of the most exciting parts of the tour!  Dinner tonight is included.  The morning of March 15^th you will transfer to the beaches of Playa Manuel Antonio.  Manuel Antonio National Park is where tropical rainforest meets the dazzling white sand of Playa Manuel Antonio — one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica and one of the top ten in the world.  After checking into your hotel, the afternoon will be spent completing community service to preserve the scenic beauty of these beaches.  The morning of March 16^th will begin with a relaxing hike through the tropical rainforest of the Carara National Park*.  Later this afternoon, an unforgettable snorkeling adventure* in the warm pacific waters of Biesanz Bay is planned.  On March 17^th you will return to San Jose where you will enjoy an afternoon tour of La Paz Waterfall and Gardens*.  Here you will walk through many spectacular trails, visit the largest butterfly observatory in the country, boasting trails with five waterfalls, an aviary, monkeys, hummingbird garden, serpentarium, jungle cat exhibit with five species of felines, Casita De La Paz, frog habitat, trout lake, insect exhibit and an orchid exhibit.  On March 18^th, you will return to the United States, taking with you fond memories of your unforgettable journey!

 

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $3,795.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the standard non-discounted price is $3,895.00.  If you wish to use a credit card for your initial deposit, you will be allowed to pay the remaining payments by check and still receive the discounted tour price. Trip price is based on triple occupancy and includes round trip airfare from Memphis, point-to point transportation between cities while in Costa Rica, all breakfasts and dinners. Additionally, *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk are included in the tour price (Doka Estate Coffee Tour, a Chocolate Tour, Arenal Volcano National Park and Baldi Hot springs, Trapiche Tour, Monteverde Reserve, Carara National Park/ Snorkeling Tour, and La Paz Waterfall Garden Tour (pending availability). In the unlikely event that EA Tours cancels the tour and is unable to operate a substitute itinerary, the tour cost including the initial deposit is fully refundable. Additional items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $465.00.   Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges security surcharges, and associated fees.
