Sunday, March 5

Upon arrival to Washington, D.C., you will begin your exciting patriotic adventure at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum*. Some of the exhibits you will find include: Wright 1903 Flyer and the Apollo 11 command module Columbia. Following lunch, partake in a humbling experience at the Holocaust Museum*, both a touching and vivid reminder of those who were persecuted and a supplication against such inhumanity. Afterwards enjoy a spectacular view of the city from the Washington Monument* before dinner and checking into your hotel.

Monday, March 6

Following breakfast you will visit Arlington National Cemetery*, resting place for so many American heroes.  Here, witness Kennedy’s eternal flame and the solemn Changing of the Guards Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You will also visit the memorials dedicated to the Space Shuttles Columbia and Challenger following the ceremony.   After  lunch you will visit one of the seats of power in our nation, the Capitol Building*. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met at the Capitol for over 200 years. You will have time to appreciate the stunning architecture of the Capitol as well as the spirit of the nation and government it represents. A Supreme Court Tour* is also planned today.  Following dinner at Uno’s Pizzeria you will visit some of the many memorials dedicated to the pride and sacrifice of the American people, such as the Jefferson, FDR and MLK before returning to your hotel.

 Tuesday, March 7

This morning begins with a visit to the Newseum*, where you can witness today’s front page news from all over the World, visit the 4-D theatre, and a number of exhibits including the 9/11 exhibit.   You will not want to miss the Smithsonian Natural History Museum*.  Some of the popular exhibits to be seen include: Dinosaurs, FossiLab and The Hope Diamond. Next you will visit the Smithsonian American History Museum* which offers exhibits like the Star Spangled Banner and Julia Child’s kitchen.  There is plenty of time to spend on your own or with smaller groups, while you explore the Smithsonian Museums’ exhibits.  A visit to Ford’s Theatre* will showcase our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, assassination and legacy.  After dinner at the Hard Rock Café you will enjoy the evening on your own before returning to your hotel.

 Wednesday, March 8

After breakfast at the hotel you are scheduled to tour the Pentagon*, headquarters to the United States Department of Defense.  This afternoon you will visit one of the highlights of your patriotic journey, the National Archives*, where you will view some of the most important documents in our nation’s history including The Declaration of Independence.  This evening you will depart for the airport and your flight home, along with your memories and a deeper pride and appreciation for American history.
