 Sorrento, Capri and Pompeii

June 1-3, 2017

On May 31st you will depart from the United States and arrive in Rome the next day. Upon your arrival on June 1st you will be transferred to your Sorrento hotel via private coach before enjoying dinner tonight. Sorrento, an alluring holiday resort town along the most visited route in Campania, offers spectacular views of the Amalfi Coast. June 2nd is dedicated to a full day excursion to the Island of Capri* where you will enjoy a cruise* around the island and later, ride the funicular* to the summit to explore this quaint seaside village before returning to Sorrento this evening. You will spend the night enjoying Sorrento’s charm. The following morning, June 3rd, you return to Rome, with a unique chance to visit the ruins of Pompeii* along the way. Your guide will point out ancient frescoes, theatres, graffiti, and even take-out restaurants in these haunting cities suspended in time.

Rome

June 3-6, 2017

Upon arriving in Rome you will check into your hotel before evening sightseeing with your tour leader. June 4th begins with a guided city tour, * exploring the numerous historical districts which make up the heart of ancient Rome including such sites as the Colosseum and Forum*. Later this afternoon you may optionally choose to enjoy a visit to the Capitoline Museum, the world’s first public museum, offering a wonderful collection of sculpture and painting including pieces like the Etruscan, bronze She Wolf with fabled twins Romulus and Remus and Caravaggio’s St. John the Baptist. This afternoon is dedicated to exploring Rome with your tour leader to include such sights as the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and much more. On June 5th a guided visit to the Vatican Museums* is planned, where you will view religious relics and spectacular treasures accumulated by the Catholic Church over the centuries. The gorgeous Sistine Chapel, painted by the illustrious Michelangelo and the massive St. Peter’s Basilica will leave you awestruck. On your final evening in Rome dedicate time to exploring area points of interest with your tour leader, including time for some last minute shopping or sampling gelato (free to those who submit their application and deposit by the deadline).

 

Athens, Delphi, Mycenae and Epidaurus & 3-day cruise

June 6-12, 2017

On June 6th you will depart Rome on your flight to Athens where you will enjoy a guided city tour* on arrival including the Parthenon, Acropolis and the Acropolis New Museum*, before checking into your hotel. This evening enjoy sightseeing in the Plaka with your tour leader after dinner.   June 7th is dedicated to an excursion to Delphi* with visits to the Delphi sites and the Temple of Apollo, before returning to Athens this evening. On June 8th you will visit the cities of Mycenae and Epidaurus* and walk in the footsteps of King Agamemnon. On June 9th you will depart Athens for a 3-day cruise to the Greek Islands and Turkey, including stops at Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Crete and Santorini*. When you return to Port on June 11th, you will enjoy a visit to Cape Sounion* to see the Temple of Poseidon* before celebrating your journey with a farewell dinner. On June 12th you will transfer to the airport for return to the United States, bringing home great memories and wondrous new experiences.

 SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The estimated tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $5,099.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the estimated standard non-discounted price is $5,199.00.  Tour participation is based on triple occupancy and includes roundtrip airfare from New Orleans, point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe, all breakfasts and dinners.  *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk are included in the tour price (Capri excursion with Funicular and Island Cruise, Pompeii, Colosseum, Forum, Vatican Museum, Acropolis, Acropolis New Museum, Delphi sites, Mycenae and Epidaurus excursion, Cape Sounion, a 3-day cruise to the Greek Islands and Turkey, and city tours in Pompeii, Rome, Athens, Delphi, Mycenae and Epidaurus) and may be subject to availability. Additional items may be offered optionally, are also subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $825.00. A guaranteed twin room may be available for a supplemental charge of $490.00 per person. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges security surcharges, and associated fees. If applicable, tax increases will be billed on a supplemental invoice. A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour. All tour participants must submit a signed application.  A $500.00 initial deposit* is due to reserve your space on this tour. The tour cost including initial deposit fully refundable if tour does not operate.
