Louisiana Global Scholars Club - Mother Cabrini Pilgrimage

     New York City

     July 12th – 13th

Upon arrival to New York you will be met and taken for an excursion to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Shrine before checking in to your hotel. On July 13th you will tour Manhattan and visit the Statue of Liberty as well as Ellis Island before returning to the airport where you board your overnight flight to Italy.

 

   Milan

July 14th – 15th

Milan will welcome you on July 14th. Head of the northern Italian textile industry for centuries, Milan is now a bustling, 21st century metropolis, famous for catapulting designers from their studios to international stardom, including Missoni, Prada, Ferre, Armani and Versace.  During your guided city tour you will enjoy such sights as the renowned Piazza del Duomo with its lacy Gothic cathedral and the famous neo-classic opera house, La Scala. Pending availability you will visit Instituto Cabrini before hotel check-in. On July 15th you will continue your adventure to Sant’Angelo.

Sant’Angelo and Codogno

July 15th – 17th

On July 15th you travel to Codogno with a stop in Sant’ Angelo en-route. Here you will tour the museum and church before continuing to Codogno for your stay at the Cabrini Retreat Center. July 16th is a day of personal retreat, service and learning at the retreat center. In the afternoon of July 17th continue your journey as you transfer to Florence.

Florence

July 17th – 18th

As birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence will thrill you with its treasures upon your arrival on July 17th. After checking into your hotel you may wish to explore this city or spend time shopping in the straw market and open-air markets. During a guided walking tour of the city*on July 18th, you will see many of the important sights of this historic town including the Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, the eight-sided Baptistry and Santa Croce. During your time at leisure you may optionally wish to visit the Uffizi, the Academia or the Bargello Museum. Other highlights may include visiting the Boboli Gardens, visiting a leather factory and strolling across the Ponte-Vecchio to see the gold and silver shops. On the evening of July 18th you will bid farewell to Florence and travel to Rome!

Rome

July 18th – 23rd

Late on July 18th you will continue your travels to Rome. July 19th begins with the Vatican Mass and Papal Audience. In the afternoon you will tour St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museum* and, pending availability, tour the Necropolis*. The highlight of July 20th is a guided walking tour, * exploring the numerous historical districts which make up the heart of ancient Rome including such sites as the Colosseum*, Forum*, San Ignazio, Piazza Navona and Pantheon. In the afternoon you will see the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. The morning of July 21st is dedicated to visiting the Cabrini House and tour the Cabrini Church. In the afternoon you may visit San Pietro in Vincoli, Santa Maria Maggiore, the temple of Minerva or any other of the beautiful churches. The next day, July 22nd, is planned as a day of service in Rome. On July 23rd you bid Italy good-bye as you transfer to Rome airport and board your return flight back to the U.S. taking with you wonderful memories of your Cabrini Pilgrimage.

 

 

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $4,195.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the standard non-discounted price is $4,295.00.  Tour participation is based on twin occupancy and breakfasts in the hotel portion of the trip and retreat stays. Included roundtrip airfare from New Orleans and point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe.  *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk are included in the tour price (Colosseum, Forum, Vatican Museum, Necropolis (pending availability) and city tours in New York, Milan, Florence and Rome). Additional items may be offered optionally, are also subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $695.00. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges security surcharges, and associated fees. If applicable, tax increases will be billed on a supplemental invoice. A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour. All tour participants must submit a signed application.  A $500.00 initial deposit* is due to reserve your space on this tour. The tour cost including initial deposit is fully refundable if tour does not operate.
