On October 1st you will depart the U.S. to begin your Spain adventure, landing in the timeless capital city of Madrid on the 2nd to discover the hidden treasures of this city.  Fantastic excursions, cultural encounters, preserved historical sites, delicious foods and exotic shopping make this trip exciting and rewarding.  Bring these memories home with you on October 15th.

Madrid, Toledo, El Escorial and Segovia

Oct. 2nd – Oct. 6th      

Upon arrival in Madrid, the capital and largest city in Spain, you will transfer to your hotel and have free time to explore, rest or shop. A guided panorama tour of the city* is planned for Oct. 3rd, viewing such famous landmarks as the Royal Palace, Buen Retiro Park, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Espana, Parliament, Puerta de Alcala, Paseo de Castellana, Cibeles Fountain.  In the afternoon visits to the Prado Museum* which displays works by Boticelli, Rafael, Rubens, Rembrandt and El Greco and Centro de Arte Reina Sofia* are scheduled.  On Oct. 4th you will enjoy an excursion to Toledo* where you will visit the Synagogue*, Cathedral* and the Iglesia de Santo Tome*.  On Oct. 5th you travel outside Madrid on a full day guided excursion to El Escorial* and Segovia*.  Included are the entrances to the Monastery* and Alcazar*.  Your journey continues on Oct. 6th as you travel to Salamanca with a guided city tour* of Avila en-route.  The entrance to St. Teresa Convent* is included.

 Salamanca and Burgos

Oct. 6th – Oct. 10th   

Oct. 7th begins with a guided city tour* including entrance to the University*.  Your afternoon is free to explore on your own.  On Oct. 8th transfer to Burgos; in the afternoon you visit the Cathedral* on your guided city tour*.  The highlight of your stay in Burgos is on Oct. 9th when you experience a wine tasting in Haro*, the capital of the riojas wine district.  You will visit 2 different wineries.  On Oct. 10th you travel to San Sebastian.
San Sebastian

Oct. 10th – Oct. 12th

Upon arrival in San Sebastian you will begin a guided city tour*.  Included will be entrance to the Cathedral*.  The following day is free to enjoy the city on your own before embarking on a tapas tour*.  On Oct. 12th your bus continues to Barcelona.  En-route you will stop in Pamplona for a lunch break and guided city tour*.

Barcelona

Oct. 12th – Oct. 15th

As the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona is perfectly situated making it the principal Spanish seaport in all the country.  Barcelona is a city of broad avenues, striking architecture and lively nightlife, the perfect place to enjoy the famous Catalonian cuisine. Upon your arrival on Oct. 12th you will spend time this evening with your tour leader getting acquainted with the sights and sounds of this magnificent city. The following morning you will begin your guided city tour* to see such sites as Christopher Columbus Monument, the Gothic Quarter and many of the architectural works of Gaudi.  Oct. 14th is a free day in Barcelona. Tomorrow you will bid Barcelona good-bye as you travel home.

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $4,180.00; otherwise, the standard non-discounted price is $4,280.00.  Tour participation is based on twin occupancy and includes  point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe and all breakfasts.  *Entrance fees and/or transportation to (Prado Museum, Reina Sofia, Synagogue, Cathedral, Iglesia de Santo Tome, El Escorial, Monastery, Alcazar, St. Teresa Convent, University, Salamanca Cathedral, wine tasting, San Sebastian Cathedral, tapas tour, city tours in Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, Avila, Salamanca, Burgos, San Sebastian, Pamplona and Barcelona) are marked with an asterisk, and included in the tour price, while other items may be offered optionally, are subject to availability, and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge of $1500.00.   A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour. The tour cost, including the initial deposit, is fully refundable if the tour does not operate.
