Sunday, February 28

Upon arrival to Washington, D.C., you will be met by your tour leader and begin your exciting patriotic adventure. This afternoon following lunch will be dedicated to exploring the Newseum*, where you can witness today’s front page news from all over the World, visit the 4-D theatre, and a number of exhibits including the 9/11 exhibit.   This afternoon your guide will take you to some of the many memorials dedicated to the pride and sacrifice of the American people, such as the Jefferson, FDR and MLK*. Following dinner at Uno’s Pizzeria you will check into your hotel.

Monday, February 29

Following breakfast you will visit Arlington National Cemetery*, resting place for so many American heroes. Here, witness Kennedy’s eternal flame and the solemn Changing of the Guards Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Your tour leader will direct you to the memorials dedicated to the Space Shuttles Columbia and Challenger following the ceremony. Afterward you will visit Smithsonian Air & Space. Some of the exhibits you will find at the Air & Space Museum include: Wright 1903 Flyer and the Apollo 11 command module Columbia. Following lunch partake in a humbling experience at the Holocaust Museum*, both a touching and vivid reminder of those who were persecuted and a supplication against such inhumanity. Following dinner you will have a photo opportunity of the White House. This is the perfect opportunity for a group photo.

 Tuesday, March 1

After breakfast at the hotel you are scheduled to visit and tour the Pentagon, headquarters to the United States Department of Defense. You will not want to miss the Smithsonian Natural History Museum. Some of the popular exhibits to be seen include: Dinosaurs, FossiLab and The Hope Diamond (to name a few). Next you will visit the Smithsonian American History Museum* which offers exhibits like the Star Spangled Banner and Julia Child’s kitchen. There is plenty of time to spend on your own or with smaller groups, while you explore the Smithsonian Museums’ exhibits. A visit to Ford’s Theatre* will showcase our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, assassination and legacy. After dinner you will enjoy an illumination tour of the Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean and WWII Memorials*.

 Wednesday, March 2

After breakfast you are scheduled to visit one of the seats of power in our nation, the Capitol Building*. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met at the Capitol for over 200 years. You will have time to appreciate the stunning architecture of the Capitol as well as the spirit of the nation and government it represents. This afternoon you will visit one of the highlights of your patriotic journey, the National Archives*, where you will view some of the most important documents in our nation’s history including The Declaration of Independence. From here you will depart for the airport and your flight home, along with your memories and a deeper pride and appreciation for American history.

 SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: * The tour price of $1,180.00 per person is based on 15+ paying participants / four students to a room, and includes round-trip airfare from Tampa, FL (does not include any checked luggage), airport transfers, guided sightseeing tour, 3 breakfasts, 4 lunches, and 3 dinners as well as applicable entrance fees for group activities (Newseum, guided Memorial Tour, Arlington National Cemetery (including tram), Smithsonian Museums, Ford’s Theatre and Petersen House, National Archives and Capitol Tour).   Please note that all above-mentioned scheduled activities are subject to change or cancellation due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e. availability, weather, traffic, etc.). A guaranteed double room may be available for a supplemental charge of $115.00. A guaranteed single room may also be available for a supplemental charge of $250.00. The tour cost, including the initial deposit, is fully refundable if the tour does not operate.
