Rome & Florence

February 6^th – 12^th

On February 6^th you will depart from the United States and arrive in Rome – the next day. Upon your arrival on February 7^th you will be transferred to Ostia Antica* en-route to your hotel. February 8^th begins with a guided walking city tour,* exploring the numerous historical districts which make up the heart of ancient Rome including such sites as the Colosseum and Forum*. On February 9^th an excursion to Florence is planned. Your visit begins with a walking tour* throughout the city where you may see such important sights as Santa Maria Novella, Palazzo Vecchio, the Medici Chapel, Santa Maria del Fiore (The “Duomo”) and its eight-sided Baptistery, the Piazza Signoria, and the Ponte Vecchio.  Your tour also includes a visit to the Academia* where you will view Michelangelo’s David and the Uffizi Gallery*. On February 10^th you will explore the Vatican Museums*, where you will view religious relics and spectacular treasures accumulated by the Catholic Church over the centuries. The gorgeous Sistine Chapel, painted by the illustrious Michelangelo and the massive St. Peter’s Basilica will leave you awestruck. While there, you may visit the Necropolis*(pending availability). The next day, February 11^th, plan to explore Via Appia Antica, an ancient historic road just outside Rome’s city center.  The road begins outside the Porta San Sebastiano, a gate in the city walls, and is lined with interesting historical buildings, including the church of Domine Quo Vadis, where St. Peter is reported to have had a vision of Christ. The Catacombs*, which you will visit on today’s journey, are set close to this stretch of road. Return to the United States on February 12^th, bringing home great memories and wondrous new experiences.

SPECIAL TOUR CONDITIONS: **The tour price, if payments are made by cash or check, is $3996.00; otherwise, if paying by credit card, the standard non-discounted price is $4096.00.  Tour participation is based on triple occupancy and includes roundtrip airfare from New Orleans point-to point transportation between cities while in Europe, all breakfasts and 6 dinners.  *Entrance fees and/or transportation marked with an asterisk are included in the tour price (Ostia Antica, Colosseum, Forum, Vatican, Catacombs, Necropolis, Academia, Uffizi Gallery and a city tour in Florence and Rome) and may be subject to availability. Additional items may be offered optionally, are also subject to availability and are not included in the tour price.  A guaranteed single room may be available for a supplemental charge. A guaranteed twin room may be available for a supplemental charge. Included are the estimated applicable governmental international airline ticket taxes, fuel surcharges security surcharges, and associated fees. If applicable, tax increases will be billed on a supplemental invoice. A minimum number of paying participants may be required to operate the tour. All tour participants must submit a signed application.  A $500.00 initial deposit* is due to rserve your space on this tour. The tour cost including initial deposit is fully refundable if tour does not operate.
