November 6 – November 11, 2015

Upon your arrival to Italy on November 6th, Milan will welcome you with its art, fashion and culture.  Head of the northern Italian textile industry for centuries, Milan is now a bustling, 21st century metropolis, famous for catapulting designers from their studios to international stardom, including Missoni, Prada, Ferre, Armani and Versace. On November 7th, during your guided city tour* you will see the renowned Piazza del Duomo with its lacy Gothic cathedral, La Scala*, and the da Vinci’s restored Last Supper* (pending availability). November 8th is dedicated to a full day excursion to Stresa where you will enjoy the fantastic views with a cruise of Lake Maggiore*, including a visit to Isola Bella*.  Your journey continues on to Florence on November 9th.   As birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence will thrill you with its treasures.  During a guided walking tour of the city*on November 10th, you will see many of the important sights of this historic town including the Academia*, home to Michelangelo’s “David”, Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, and the eight-sided Baptistry.  Later this afternoon, visit the Uffizi Gallery*, Italy’s greatest art gallery. During your time at leisure you may optionally wish to visit the Bargello Museum, another Florentine museum gem, which houses Italy’s finest collection of Renaissance sculpture.  Other highlights may include visiting the Boboli Gardens, shopping in the straw market and open-air market, visiting a leather factory and strolling across the Ponte-Vecchio to see the gold and silver shops before departing to Rome the next day.

 

Rome

November 11 – November 15, 2015

Upon arrival to Rome on November 11th, you will enjoy a guided city tour*, visiting numerous historical districts which make up the heart of Ancient Rome as well exploring the Colosseum and Forum*.  Begin November 12th with a morning visit to the Borghese Gallery*.  This afternoon an optional visit is planned to discover the treasures of the Capitoline Museum, the world’s first public museum, offering a wonderful collection of sculpture and painting including pieces like the Etruscan, bronze She Wolf with fabled twins Romulus and Remus and Caravaggio’s St. John the Baptist.  November 13th is planned at leisure for exploring area points of interest with your advisor.  Be sure not to miss Piazza Navona, the Spanish steps or the Pantheon, and don’t forget to toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain to ensure your return to this magnificent city!!  On November 14th, you will enjoy a guided visit to the Vatican Museums*and a specially requested visit to the Scavi*, underneath St. Peter’s Basilica, where you will have a chance to view religious relics and treasures accumulated over the centuries. You’ll also have a chance to visit the gorgeous Sistine Chapel, painted by the illustrious Michelangelo, and explore the massive St. Peter’s Basilica.   Bring tales of your exciting adventures home with you when you return to the United States with fond memories, new experiences and perhaps a unique souvenir or two on November 15th.
