On May 12th you depart Charleston on an overnight flight to begin your European adventure, landing on May 13th in the timeless capital city of Amsterdam. You will discover hidden treasures, fantastic excursions, cultural experiences, preserved historic sites, art and architecture, delicious foods and exotic shopping, throughout your adventure, making it both exciting and rewarding. Amsterdam

           May 13th

Built on a network of centuries-old canals, Amsterdam is a delightful city. The largest and most cosmopolitan city of the Netherlands, Amsterdam is also the diamond-cutting capital of the world. Upon arrival you will enjoy a guided tour* of the city before checking into your hotel. Spend this evening at leisure exploring with your tour leader after dinner.

May 14th
This morning you will visit the Rijksmuseum*, considered one of the top three art museums in the world and home to Rembrandt’s “Nightwatch”. You will also visit the Stedelijk Museum* and the Van Gogh Museum*; this museum’s collection is the largest collection of Van Gogh’s paintings and drawings in the world. Later this afternoon you may wish to visit the Anne Frank House where Anne Frank took refuge during the Nazi invasion of World War II and wrote her famous diary. Afterwards dedicate time to discovering such fascinating sights as the Flower Market, Dam Square and Rembrandt Square or to some last minute sightseeing, shopping, strolling through Vondelpark, or simply enjoying the ambience of this beautiful city known as “the Venice of the North”. This evening you may optionally wish to enjoy a scenic canal cruise (free to those who submit their application and deposit by the deadline).
May 15th

Dedicate today for an excursion to Zanse Schans* to marvel at this scenic windmill village. Then you will continue to Volendam*, a picturesque beach community, for sightseeing before returning to Amsterdam this afternoon to board your train to Paris! Spend this evening at leisure exploring with your tour leader.

Paris
May 16th

Today you will enjoy a guided tour of the city* exploring Paris with visits to such fascinating sights as the Louvre* and the Musee de l’Orangerie. Later you may wish to view the artists of Montmartre at Place du Tertre, shop at Les Galeries Lafayette (France’s largest department store) or simply relax and enjoy the charm of the elegant boulevards, museums, and the outdoor cafes with your tour leader. This evening you will enjoy an ascent to the second level of the Eiffel Tower*!

 

May 17th

Begin today with a visit to the Pompidou Center*, followed by visits to the Musee d’Orsay*, Notre Dame* and Saint Chappelle*. A highlight of your stay in Paris will be a dinner cruise on the River Seine* this evening.

 

Rome

May 18th

This morning you will transfer to the airport for your flight to Rome. Upon arrival you will enjoy a visit to the Baths of Caracalla* en-route to your hotel for check-in. Spend this evening exploring area points of interest with your tour leader.

   May 19th

Today you will enjoy a guided tour of the city* beginning with the Colosseum and Forum*. Your tour will culminate with exploring sights such as San Clemente, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and much more. Spend this evening at leisure exploring with your tour leader to such sights as the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps.

 

May 20th

Begin today with a guided visit to the Vatican Museums* including St. Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. This afternoon a visit is planned to the Borghese Gallery*. Afterwards there will be time at leisure for last minute sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs. Your Farewell Dinner is included this evening.

 

May 21st

You will depart Rome for your flight back to the United States, taking with you unforgettable memories of your journey.
