Lima

March 18th – March 19th

On March 18th you will arrive in Peru where you will be met by your private coach and taken to your hotel for check in. This afternoon you will enjoy a city tour* around the City of Lima, known as the City of the Kings; begin by visiting the colonial part of Lima including the Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, Government Palace, and Municipal Palace. You will continue your visit to the Saint Domingo Church*, considered the cultural heritage of humanity, where you will admire the convent museum, monks’ library and the underground catacombs. Later, visit the Larco Museum*, considered a MUST SEE Museum by all travelers; located in an 18th century vice-royal mansion built over a VIIth century pre-columbian pyramid and surrounded by beautiful gardens. On March 19th you will fly to Cusco.

Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu

March 19th – 24th

Upon arrival on March 19th you will transfer to the city of Cusco to visit The Koricancha* (Temple of the Sun), which was not only the most sacred site or huaca in the Inca religion but was considered the very center of the Inca world. Afterwards you will continue to your hotel located in Sacred Valley. On March 20th you will visit the majestic Fortress of Ollantaytambo*, huge, steep terraces that guard Ollantaytambo’s spectacular Inca ruins mark one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle. Afterwards continue to visit Moray and Maras. First you will visit Archeological complex of Moray*, where you can see four slightly elliptical agricultural terraces, that the people call muyus. Many think that this place was an important agricultural experimentation center for the Incas. The Maras* are salt-mines used since the Tahuantinsuyo. The view of this complex of nearly 3000 wells is spectacular. Following this excursion you will return to the hotel for dinner. On March 21st your adventure continues to Machu Picchu by the Vistadome Train*. Upon arrival you will transfer to the citadel by a bus shuttle service. Afterwards you will enjoy a guided tour throughout the Sacred Citadel of Machu Picchu* before spending the evening at leisure in Machu Picchu town. The visit includes the Intihuatana (the Solar Clock) the Watchtower, the Incas Palace, the Three Windows, and more. On March 22nd you will return to Ollantaytambo by Vistadome train*. Upon arrival you will visit the Ceramics Workshop* which displays techniques and styles of Peru’s ancient cultures. As you continue to Cusco for the evening a visit is planned to the famous Indian market of Pisac*, a delightful place where you can bargain for the goodies with the local street vendors, followed by a visit to the Sacsayhuaman Fortress (Free to those who submit their application and deposit by the deadline) before your arrival to your Cusco hotel.  In the morning of March 23rd you will meet your guide for a walking city tour of Cusco* where you will visit San Blas*, a neighborhood of artists and artisans with narrow stone streets and a bohemian and charming atmosphere.  Afterwards, visit the market of San Pedro*, where you can shop for traditional souvenirs before spending the afternoon at leisure. This evening will culminate with a traditional dinner show* before returning to Lima the next morning.

Lima

March 24th – 26th

On March 24th you will transfer to the airport for your return flight to Lima. In the afternoon a visit is planned to Parque de la Reserva (Park of Reserve)*, where we will witness the magical water circuit*. This majestic work enjoys worldwide recognition and distinction in winning the Guinness record for being the public park of the world´s largest fountain and has the highest geyser (80mts. height). The circuit comprises 13 ornamental fountains and a wonderful laser light show, music and images that interact with the water movement in perfect conjunction and harmony. March 25th begins with a tour of the modern residential district of Miraflores*. You will marvel at the Huaca Pucllana*, pre -Inca ceremonial temple in a pyramid form that has survived the urban sprawl of Lima. We will stop at Larcomar, shopping mall and entertainment center located on Malecon de Miraflores*; where we may enjoy a Pacific Ocean view and time at leisure for last minute shopping. After dinner this evening you will transfer to the airport for your flight home. You will return to the United States on March 26th, with fantastic memories, and perhaps a souvenir or two, to remember this magnificent adventure.
