Berlin
March 14th – March 15th
Upon arrival on March 14th you will be given a panoramic tour* of this once divided city, Berlin now stands as a symbol of unity around the world. You will see a stark contrast showing the reality of the dichotomy of East and West Berlin during the Cold War. Even though it’s no longer a monolith to Communism, evidence of the famous Berlin Wall can still be seen. This divider between east and west will certainly be intriguing. Dine tonight like a Berliner after checking into your hotel. On March 15th plan to visit the Max Planck Institute*, which has a world-renowned reputation as a science & technology research institution, with 32 Nobel Prizes awarded to their scientists. A tour of the Berlin School of the Mind and Brain at Humbolt University* is also planned. The focus of research at the school is on the interface between the humanities and behavioral sciences with the neurosciences.
Leipzig & Würzburg
March 16th-March 18th
On March 16th depart for Leipzig. Upon arrival a visit to the University of Leipzig* is scheduled. It is the second oldest university in Germany. Famous alumni include Leibniz, Goethe, Nietzsche, Wagner, and the current German Chancellor, Angela Merkel. Nine Nobel laureates are associated with this university. On the morning of March 17th you will visit the Wilhelm-Wundt-Room*. Wundt is considered by many to be the father of modern psychology. The Institute hosts a small collection with exhibits from Wundt’s office and laboratory. Many of the original devices used for stimulus presentation and exact time measurement are on display. This evening you will depart for Würzburg. March 18th is dedicated to visiting the History of Psychology Museum* at the university before departing via train to Vienna.

Vienna
March 18th – March 20th
Vienna awaits you on March 18th. Capital of the Republic of Austria, Vienna has long been a center of political power and artistic progress. Considered by many to be on the dividing line between east and west, it was the capital of the Hapsburg Empire. During your visit you will embark on a tour of the city* via the Ringstrasse or “Ring Road” which surrounds the entirety of the city’s inner district. You may see such sites as Stephansdom, Platz am Hof Fahnrichsof and the DomGasse, famous as Vienna’s first office house as well as its association with Mozart. This evening you may optionally enjoy a delicious Austrian meal, (free to those who return their application and $500.00 deposit to EA Tours by November 1st, 2014). On March 19th visit the Viktor Frankl Institute*. The Institute is a non-profit scientific society for Logo therapy and Existential Analysis. Your afternoon is set aside for time at leisure to enjoy the charms of the city on your own. On March 20th visit the Sigmund Freud Museum*. The museum consists of Freud’s former practice and a part of his old private quarters. Attached to the museum are Europe’s largest psychoanalytic research library with 35,000 volumes, and the research institute of the Sigmund Freud Foundation. This afternoon enjoy a tour of the magnificently opulent Vienna Opera House*.
Munich
March 21st – March 22nd
On March 21st you will arrive in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. Upon arrival you will visit the Ludwig Maximillian University*. Afterwards you may want to explore this fascinating city with your tour leader where you may discover such diverse and interesting sites as the Old City, the town hall featuring the Glockenspiel Chimes and moving clockwork figures and Frauenkirche with its distinctive onion-shaped domes. Your day will culminate with a Farewell dinner*, at the world renowned Hofbrauhaus where you will enjoy an authentic Bavarian dinner and take some time to reflect on your experiences with friends old and new. You will return to your own historic city on March 22nd taking with you lasting memories of your educational and enlightening tour.
